paint flaking/peeling off of deck

so I have a 2yr old simplicity zt3500 mower in which I love and have no issues except this one. on the vertical walls (both sides and back) the paint is coming off. it starts at the bottom and works it's way up. it's like the paint never baked on or adhered good. This is a little upsetting to me. what's the best way to repair this issue. should I wire wheel brush or flap disc this loose stuff off with a grinder and then cover it with some good quality spray paint or go another route. your opinions are needed...thank you....

That's not an inexpensive mower.

It has a 3 year warranty and a lifetime limited deck warranty.

I would pursue getting it handled under warranty. Don't be a jerk, but you will have to be very assertive.

Some of today's direct to metal paint jobs are horrible. If the paint is failing due to adhesion problems, that is a defect.

I had a Toro Wheelhorse mower do that, but it was way out of warranty and the dealer was a jerk. I took my workplace business elsewhere to the tune of many thousands of dollars.

I doubt peeling paint is covered under a warranty. Wire brush area, prime and touch up.

Sandblast repaint with 2K primer 2K paint done.

Agreed. It's a simple fix and not worth the issues of transporting the mower to a dealer.

^^^^^^yup this is the route I've decided to take. were fast approaching mowing season in my area, and thought I'd have to wait now until fall to bring it in. also I'm sure IF it was even covered under warranty that this is what they would do anyway. I'll take my time at it, and will probably do a better job anyway.

Well, you guys are more forgiving than me. If I paid $4,300 dollars for a mower, I would be upset if the paint was peeling off the same as if it was happening to a new car.

You paid for something brand new. If the paint job is defective, it will likely continue to peel off.
