Pablo, do you smuggle your detergent?

You can tell what part of the country you're in if you got to a hardware store. They'll either have TSP or "TSP", a substitute with... (gasp)... no phosphates!

Apparently so.

hehe, you're missing the references. Calgon used to advertise with a catch phrase "Ancient Chinese secret, huh" for laundry and "Calgon, take me away!" for bath salts.

Curious, what do you put in your homemade detergent?

I guess it would be a bad idea to use borax for dishes because it is carcinogenic. It's safe for the skin though?

Calgon has been phosphate-free for some time. It does not contain sodium hexametaphosphate any longer.

water
washing soda
ivory soap (you have to grind it)
borax
calgon
lemon or citronella oil

You are not supposed to inhale or eat borax. Borax and Calgon come in granules. You are not supposed to use a large quantity when making detergent. Commercial detergents contain much worse stuff!

mori, it was just the reply tag thing...never even heard of calgon.

Just commenting on everybody's right to a green soupy reservoir near their house, to blow smoke in the face of others, and fill up while wearing a pyrotechnic flame suit.

My old clothes washing mix was home made soap, boiled with a bit of borax and washing soda...worked pretty well it did.

I still use "Ancient Chinese Secret" frequently.

For instance, when someone asks me a question I prefer not to answer or if someone wants my Garlic/Dill Pickles & Baby Food Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting recipes!

Ah, algae, the source of our future fuel and lunch!

Calgon used to contain phosphate(s). I didn't use it then. I think I mentioned my one-time accident while cooking up a batch of detergent. Messy!

And I use "Ancient Bavarian Secret."

I'd have to use Ancient German/Irish/Norwegian/Welsh/Swedish & a few others Secret.

There's an idea for a thread: What nationalities are you?

You must have been reincarnated a few times...

You got some Prussian ancestry, right? Bavarians are the naturally born enemies of Prussians.

that would explain our tryst, mori. i have some pomeranian ancestors from the 1830's.
now i can add bavarians to just above belgians!
