I just found out that Mazda 3 has problem with rusting power steering lines ... I'm going to do a full flush .. I will disconnect pump .. and fill with new OIL..

Anyone have idea what size should I get 3/8 ?

I guess its good idea to install filter ?
Are there any retail stores in Canada to buy Magnefine or some replacement ? Ford Dealers ?

What? Where have you heard of such claims of rusting power steering lines? And, how is adding a filter going to help the situation?

There is TSB ,,, you have 07 so still under warranty - Many people are having problems with those pumps.

Buddy BGK - sent me msg with info about filter ... Thank You

bdcardinal - Yeah I'm aware that this pump is electric .. ( Is there problem with putting filter on electric ? one ? )

Well I guess if there will be in line filter and debris in the system ? filter will catch them instead of pushing them directly in to pump ? I'm missing something ?

I wonder - if filter will not cause any problem like stop flow decrees pressure ?

1-8514 Napa - Apparently its a Magnefine in Napa Box ? I guess that is best that I can get ?

TSB: 06-002/09

I hope you are joking... In Canada everything rusts thanks to the Salt trucks in the winter.

Its an issue if the line rusts from the inside out. Sad but true!
Install the filter and hope!

should filter be installed on

Pressure pipe

Suction hose

Magnefine would seem the way to go.....I would put it on the low pressure line....less stress on the connections.
Of course space will limit where you can put it.
The advantage to the magnefine (or the rebranded versions of same) is that it is designed for this application and it has a bypass valve to open should the media become clogged.
It also has a nice magnet inside to catch material.
Make SURE to install it in the correct flow direction as indicated by the big red arrow on the side of the unit.

Anyway to figure out flow ? haha I have no clue ..
low pressure = suction hose ?

Its different ... Reservoir .. has only one line to pump

1 Connector
2 Pressure pipe
3 Suction hose
4 Electric power steering oil pump and bracket component
5 Bracket
6 Electric power steering oil pump

I think that there are to lines ? one coming out and one coming in ?

"BLACK hose with the metal clip on it. This is the suction hose. "

" The long gold colored pipe that's bent like an upside down candy cane is the pressure pipe. "

So suction hose - low pressure ?
Now how to figure out flow ?
