We have a power station specifically built to power an aluminium smelter, it is the biggest single consumer of electricity in the country. Bauxite from OZ, sending aluminium to Japan. They get the power at 1/4 the price charged to the general public - it's hard to see what we get out of this. Now there is talk of shutting it down....I wonder if we will get cheaper power if it does.
