I have been useing an oversized Fram XG 3600 on my "06" V6 Toyota 4Runner for a few oil changes now and I was wondering what the thoughts on the Fram XG are? I run it for about 8,000 miles with a quality synthetic oil PP or Shell.

I would never run my 4Runner past 5000 miles on any oil. I would be afraid of screwing up the VVT system. But the oil filter will do it.

8000 miles on an XG is good enough....FRAM states they can go 10k...so take it there, and see how it makes it, after the oil change cut it open

What oil filter is the Tacoma "supposed" to take? the 3614?

For 2005+ Tacoma with 4.0L V6.

Fram XG3614 - smaller one that is specified by Fram
Fram XG3600 - larger version

XG3614 = 3.34" long
XG3600 = 4.92" long

I will say that the XG 3600 holds quite a bit of oil when I remove it. I will cut one open next change and post some pix.
