Lol, I was wondering why you kept going back until I re-read it was a lease, guess it doesn't matter much.

There are a FEW good quick lubes around but you've got to
search for them, usually they are the place that has the same manager, same crew, for years, and they pay a bit better than the rest, the price might be a bit higher than the cheapest but you get when you pay for in this kind of case. Usually it is a small regional chain that has the better service and staff.

At the quicklube place I've been to it looks like they set the volume of oil to dispense electronically. How do quicklube places manage to overfill?

How many of those people would know if their car was treated wrong?

Either the owner or the tech may report the wrong model or year into the system and there maybe quirks with model years and the owner thinking they have a 2006 when it's a 2005.

Even if they get make/model right, some systems may have an incorrect capacity data. Not necessarily the fault of the system, even some manufacturers have misreported the oil capacities, and not just hokey manufacturers.

Personal example, my 2003 LS430 has printed manual at time of release that says 4.8Q of oil, but has since been corrected to 5.4quarts in subsequent documentation. Then in reality it actually takes 6quarts to get to full). Google 2003 LS430 oil capacity and you'll find threads of confusion; especially from internet commentators just pointing to this document or that and thinking they're right.

Additionally as mentioned above, the "drain" may not have fully drained, or the filter wasn't actually drained.

I'm too lazy to pour in 8 ounces out of a 32 ounce bottle.

I just pour the whole quart in. Car doesn't act any different either.

Some people wait until they're a whole quart low. I can't do that.
