In 900,000 miles it took Amsoil 36 oil changes. GM OLM = 144 changes. Well if the math is right thats 108 more oil changes considering if he had time and time cost when your short on it when your driving 112,500 miles per year. Add another cheap $10 for labor on the oil changes = $1080.

It's easy to look at with simple math...I would think he had better things to do than with the extra 108 oil changes.

No wonder I can't seem to get my newspaper delivered regularly. The dang tow truck is stealing all those missing newspapers.

Your numbers are incorrect. You are changing one of your Amsoil changes at only 7500 miles each year and included the cost of 2 Amsoil filters for that short interval.

Amsoil Preferred Customer cost for 8 years is $120 when you sign up for 10 years.

910,000 miles divided by 35,000 mile OCI = 26 oil changes @ $58.60 per oil change = $1524 + $120 Preferred Customer membership = $1643.

910,000 miles divided by 7317 mile OCI = 124.4 oil changes at $15.40 per oil change = $1921. So this cost you $278 more, 98 more oil changes costing you time, labor, and lost productivity, and you don't know if it would have made the 910,000 miles without engine repair. Seems pretty clear to me.

That 4.3 in the Astro's is dang near bulletproof anyway. My sis in law has 3: one at 313,000 one at 267,000 and one baby at 112,000. All conventional oil when she thinks of it, whatever filter the quicky lube place puts on, BUT... all highway miles on all 3. Still, 900k is an amazing feat. Especially if you consider the amount of time/miles elapsed between OCI's. AND, if the original trans has 900k on it (I want proof!) I'd have to think very hard using AmSoil myself.

Hey, for those of you who don't think GM products can go the distance, I already have 60,000 miles on my 03 Silverado and it's still going strong. I expect to get at least 65,000 out of it.

+ add oil.......

Sure sure 900K on the tranny and no work done. One guy offered to come by and take a look to verify, but what happened the Amsoil salesman isn't biting. I think we have a snake oil salesman among us that has more stories than Walt Disney.

Your not counting labor costs. All his work was done at the Chevy Dealer. Plus most people don't go 7000 miles on dino oil. Maybe you do, but I would have to say you are an exception to the rule. Heck, it seems most people in the Auto forums don't go 7000 on synth.

Correct on the short change of oil. Got in a hurry with the numbers. And yes sorry.
"time, labor, and lost productivity, and you don't know if it would have made the 910,000 miles without engine repair. Seems pretty clear to me."

So regular oil has a cost to change and Amsoil is free?
And the comment of "don't know if it would have made it without Amsoil?? I guess I would expect the comments.

Of course it's not free to change Amsoil. But it costs 5 times less than the the dino at 7K.

The proof will be coming. I just got a call from my sponsor (also his sponsor) and he said he's not releasing anything until everything is squared away and documented with Amsoil.

So as Pablo said, it should be in the Action news soon.

So how did that signature get added to my posts? I didn't do that. I know they are site sponsors, but I'm a dealer too! Just too new to be sponsoring a site right now. Need more cash flow!

It costs alot more for labor on the extra 98 oil changes. Figure at least $10 labor per change = $980 more dollars on the conventional. If it cost him an hour of lost productivity and he only made $10 an hour, another $980.

Plus if he drove this much for some type of business, the Commercial Account is free so he'd save another $120 and pay $69 less for the 55 gallon drum of Amsoil and save another $56 on a dozen filters. So he is now saving around $2500 on the Amsoil changes compared to conventional changes. Plus 98 fewer oil filters in the dumpster. Still seems pretty clear to me.

From the Amsoil site:

"4. AMSOIL Dealers or Preferred Customers who are owners of a
separate non-AMSOIL business may have their business become a Commercial/
Retail Account with their sponsor as the Servicing Dealer."

Your correct I don't count labor cost. I get on my creeper with a wrench and remove the drain plug. And then get a filter wrench and remove the filter. So my cost for not being lazy is you guessed it. So the numbers mr tim shot were way low which is my point. And your opinion of oil is your opinion. If you would care to share your theory on how the OLM is a bad thing I will listen. Go ahead share your opinion or Amsoil's or whoever you would care to share on how it is bad. I run an approved oil by GM6094 standard and I will also listen to your theory on why no API approval from Amsoil. And please list facts. I have read the articles of Amsoil is too cheap and they would be bound to one formula and could not change every Mobil rail car that pulls up to there storage facility. Thanks for your time.
