Quok, I have seen Toyota's reading over 300,000 miles on the odometer. The last one I saw was a Carolla a few months ago.Now with that said I still do not belive this story the fact that it is a Chevy Van is what makes it unbeliveable to me. If not for GM most parts store would be out of business in a hurry. THeir is no way in hati that this van has gone 900,000 miles on the same lifters, valve springs, water pump, starter, rod bearings, wrist, gaskets all, pins, transmission, ring and pinion, and associated bearings.

i also wounder if Serries 2000 0W30 has been on the market long enough for it to have been run since new in this van!

I guess for my self I would consider the starter, water pump, alternator, power steering pump and other such things attached to the engine to be included in "engine work" That being said, this guy is driving over 100,000 miles a year to achieve this which is over 5 times more than I do. So many of these items (like the starter) aren't really being used as much as I do.

All maintenance was performed by his Chevy dealer, so Anti freeze would have been up to date, so I think it's realistic to believe the water pump could last that long. The alt, maybe, maybe not......

I meant to say not being used any more than I do.

Man I'm screwing my words. I WOULD NOT consider those things to be "engine work"

My Dad had a 1989 Nissan Maxima 3.0 v6, religiously changed at 3k, all maint. done when it was needed. He finally sold it in 2003 w/ 496k on it.

I'm serious. The repair on it was 4 alternators, 2 water pumps, A/C compressor and two CV joints.

Supertech oils for the most part and get this, ORANGE CAN FRAMS from the first oil change at 3006 miles.

When he sold it, it was almost up to 1qt every 3k miles.

helluva car.

I'm a relatively new Amsoil dealer. My sponsor just showed me an e-mail he got from one of his dealers in Ohio. He had a picture of the odometer showing over 900,000 miles.

He used Amsoil S2K 0-30 since new, changed every 35,000 per Amsoils recommendation and Amsoil ATF every 100,000. Everything runs great with no engine or tranny work needed.

He plans to turn over 1,000,000 miles by July 2008.

Now if that's not a testimonial for extended oci's, Amsoil products and Synthetic in general, I don't what is.

Your comments please.

Years ago I met a guy with a nissan p/u with almost 500,000 miles using all Amsoil. But this truck was used in his courrier busisness ,,lots of miles little cold start wear. How was the van used? Approx 8 years old approx 112,500 miles per year. Freeway ? the trans didn't shift often. Can't knock the oil but for example over the road semis can get a million + miles before overhaul the same truck doing pickup and delivery won't do quite as well.{even with 5w/20 oil}

Kind of off topic but what the hey. When I was growing up in Argentina they finally passed a law to get the old Mercedes diesel taxis off the road (170D?). The taxi drivers bought local cars (Like the SIAM di Tella) and put the old Mercedes diesel engines in them. LOL. Well over 1MMK Km!

Why did they pass a law to get Mercedes diesels off the road? By the way those Mercedes diesels odometers do go to 999,999 miles.

I don't doubt it. But the main point here imho is the fact that he only changed once every 35,000. That's a big money savings over changing dino every 3000.

If this is true, Amsoil (not the dealer) should be verifying and documenting everything. A million miles on a gas engine (my assumption) with no rebuilds on it or the tranny using one company's product is an absolute marketing gold mine. Amsoil should be buying this man a brand new van.

I'm thinking you/we don't know all the particulars here. That's my comment.

Current price on S2K $9.95 a quart with 6 quarts
Filter EAO 24 $15.95 you need 2 for 35K
AMSOIL EaO Filters are guaranteed for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, when used in conjunction with AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil in gasoline and diesel vehicles in normal service
So total cost $91.60

6 Quarts of regular oil with GM6094 spec 5/20
1 AC filter from GMC dealer
Cost $15.45
Change per OLM 5 changes so far with 36,585
Cost $77.25

Preferred Customer/dealer price for a 55 gallon drum of TSO is $1321 or $6 a quart. 1 EaO24 is $11.30 per case of 12. So total cost is $58.60 per oil change.

Well, my brothers 1988 Honda Civic has over 380,000 miles on it on nothing but dino oil. Heck, the OCI went 10,000 miles several times in the early 90's. It has been in the family since 12/87. I can vouch for the fact that that engine has NEVER had internal work on it. The head has never been off...ever. Amazing to say the least. It burns a little oil, but does not smoke on start up, and runs quiet and smooth to this day. WOW.

PC cost $20
A barrel of oil for ONE van $1321
12 filters for ONE van $11.30 per filter $135.60
Total start up cost $1476.60

Average mileage for 8 years driving is 112,500 a year on 900,000.
Amsoil 6qts per oil change for 4 changes is $144 (24qts)
Filters used 2 per 35,000 miles $90.40 (8 filters)
Preferred customer $20
Total $254.40 a year

Using the OLM numbers I gave 7317 miles per change
Using 112,500 and divide by 7317 = 15.375 or 16 oil changes
$15.45 X 16 = $247.20

8 years of Amsoil 64 filters X $11.30= 723.20
8 years of oil 192 quarts still using 55G = $1321
8 years preferred customer $20 a year = $160
Total $2204.20

Regular oil & filters $247.20 a year
8 years oil & filters $1977.60

Difference of $226.60 for regular oil & filters every 7317 miles per a conservative OLM GM system.
