Our First visit to Buc-ees

Your take on the health of the food at Buc-ee's is different from what I observed. To me, it seemed not that much different than any other fast food joint. Just a slightly different menu. In fact, I personally was overwhelmed on what appeared as anything but healthy, in what they were serving, and shocked at the masses gathered all around, just to get their serving of fast food.

I couldn't out of there fast enough. My wife however, was a little in love with the place, and is looking forward to her next visit to one of the joints.

But you have to take into account it's still gas station food; healthy food choices are going to be a low priority. It does offer a one-stop alternative for gassing up, clean restrooms, and food that's not the typical hot dogs left out for hours or attached fast food joint.

They do have decent bakery items and a much wider range of the typical gas station packages foods.

The only one I've been to, down in Missouri, do offer healthier choices like packaged salads, nuts/cheese, etc but if I'm trying to find food at a gas station during a road trip, it's most likely not going to be healthy regardless. I'd take a stop at a grocer closer to the highway.

I can't help you if this is what you believe to be equal to the national fast food chains. If you can, tell me what chains you consider healthy
Slightly different menu? please explain?
Buc-ee's below... compared to, McDonalds? Burger King? Chick Fil A?
Arby's? Etc etc... they serve food like this?

As someone who eats out excessively, not because I want to, I can state Buc-ees food options are significantly better that fast food. They are in different categories.

Last Monday I ate lunch at the McDonalds in Juneau, AK. Had the seven dollar meal deal of a double cheeseburger, four McNuggets, a small fries, and small drink.

What I felt I ate at McDonalds wasn’t even food. Just some excessively processed material, masked from being tasteless by ketchup and ranch sauces.

At buc-ees, after 11am one can always get, with zero wait a hand cut, hand pulled piece of freshly cooked protein.

Understand your observations of Buc-ee’s. Originally, I had like observations. Now, I view Buc-ee’s as the most efficient way to get something not ultra processed while traveling around in a tight timeline.
Nobody says much about them triggering business growth.
We have a smoke house built to supply them …

American Consumerism run amok.
If very clean, nicely and flawlessly maintained restrooms for travelers on the interstate is American Consumerism run amok—- I am all for it.

The only other gas station I know in the USA the has decent restrooms is Little America in I80 in Wyoming, a few hours north of Rawlings, WY.

They are now big enough to have price leverage - I grabbed a 5 gallon gas can for a typical price and got some fresh E0 that’s hard to get otherwise - lasts me for months in mower …

You clearly went to a different Buc-ees than I did. Didn't look anything like this - not even same ballpark.

Mine was a sprinkling of old dry beef on a greasy bun (twice). The salad was old lettuce with a few grated carrots covered in seed oil.

However if were arguing over the quality and health value of gas station food we already lost.

I very much enjoy my stops at Bucees. In regard to a gas station/convenience store it's top tier (I'm not talking about fuel quality). They have some great hot sauces and fermented goods. The brisket is great especially for a quick pit stop.

Bathrooms as others have said are creme de la creme.

It is the Wally World of gas stations.
Was in my first about a months ago.
They built one about 10 minutes away from where I used to work.
It was interesting. I can now say that I have been to one. In no hurry to rush back.
I had heard much about how low their fuel prices were.
I actually filled up across the street at the Shell station, as it was cheaper.
