In just the Lubrication and General Automotive section of his board there are over 514,000 post from over 18,000 members. We have talked about and dissected most major brands of lubricants out there, plus some European brands, and the the ever popular Amsoil, Red Line, and Schaeffer's. I visit several other automotive and industrial boards that talk about other products that I never see mentioned on this site and I just wondered if any of the over 18,000 members have ever had any experiences with any of these.

1. The Porsche boys talk a lot about two products made my SWEPCO (Southwestern Petroleum Corporation) out of Ft. Worth, TX. The two products I keep reading about are the #306 motor oil and the #201 gear oil. Nothing but praises about these two products.

2. Industrial and Construction sites talk a lot about a grease called C&C (Crown & Chassis) made by TRC (Texas Refinery Corp) also out of Ft. Worth, TX.

3. Manufacturing and Food Processing sites talk a lot about greases and gear lubricants made by Hydrotex located in Farmers Branch, TX.

I just wondered if any of the over 18,000 members on this board has ever had any experience with any product made by one of these three companies, either for personal use or in your work environment.

I know most of them and IMHO all are hyped within there various "industrial" groups most all are good and have found a nitche in food grade or racing etc.

nothing wrong with that but most of thease are im my mind not avalible or main stream enough to get talked about much.

also some of thease are sold by commisson salesmen that make routine sales calls on various industry and are not as I said avalible at "joes" auto patrts house and thus are not well known at all outside the "lube" business.

Hi,
Johnny - Much of the hype on some Porsche Boards about Swepco and Brad Penn lubricants is partially based on suspect and/or seriously flawed "research" data. The rest as bruce381 points out is due to the "pressure" applied by commisions on sales. Some of these people operate independent repair shops
Many discredit the research done by Porsche and their insistance on the use of synthetic lubricants which they have used as a Factory fill since 1992. They also question the validity of Porsche's STIB 1701-1 Lubricant Approval List which has been updated many many for years and where the Listed lubricants have a validity period of up to three years

There is nothing wrong with these "Boutique" (Swepco & Brad Penn) lubricants but they have no magic qualities! They will NOT prolong engine life beyond what other similar specification lubricants from major Oil Companies will do. And usually the products from the major Oil Companies do it very well or perhaps even better and at a much lessor price too!
