I know they changed these at some point, but does anyone know what the current orifice size in the bypass filter heads? I want to make sure I have the right size before I install a recently acquired head.

I have one I bought a couple years ago and was working on installing this evening. I don't have the filter on yet so I might be able to measure it using drill bits.

The one I installed on my Jeep WK has an .032" orifice.

Check out the orifice flow chart at McMaster-Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com/#orifices/=m5nssu

.032" flows .156 gallon per minute of water at 40 psi. Not sure how that translates to oil, probably less. With the Ea-110 bypass element, my total capacity is 3 gallons. So the whole amount would take about 20 minutes to pass through that orifice. And if I recall correctly, Amsoil claims that their bypass systems typically filter all the oil about 3 times per hour.

Hope this helps.

You might try calling or emailing Amsoil?
