Does anyone know who makes O'Reilly's High Mileage Oil? They have 5 Qts. and an oil filter on sale for $11.99. I use Maxlife but would be interested in trying this oil if it's made by Valvoline. Also, who makes their MicroGard filters?

Vinnie

By bottom you mean the threaded end or the bottom of the can itself? The MicroGuard filter box will say Purolator right on it.

Read what it says on the bottom of the oil quart jug. It may say something like....

(C) Citgo
(WPP) Warren Petroleum Products
(SOPUS) Shell Oil Products United States

.....or something else.

I compared the baseplates between a Micro Guard and a Purolator. They are identical. Micro Guard is a re-labeled Purolator. Good filter for $2. !! I'm also under the impression that the O'Reilly oil is Ashland Oil/Valvoline. The older O'Reilly quarts,(about a year ago), used to say Ashland on the label.

You're right, the box says Purolator on the lower front.(One place in small print really not "all over it")I wonder if the O'Reilly Gal.JUGS say Ashland? FYI, the easiest teltale way to identify an oil filter manufacturer is to count the # of holes and their diameter in the baseplate.Go to Wal-Mart and look at various brands of oil filters and this will become crystal clear. Or,go to minimopar.com and read the OIL FILTER Recommendations article.Just my $.02.
