Lately I've been using Mobil 1 0w40 in some low mile 8-10 year old cars that originally called for (mostly)5-30. No issues excepting my 'winter beater' '05 Elantra that had a bit too much valvetrain rattle for me. I tried some O'Reilly 5-20 synthetic and have continued with that as it quieted down immediately. I really don't know why. I also seem to recall that as of several years ago, one of the counter guys said their syn was a repackaged Valvoline product. Anyone know what or if that was or still is the case?
