Generally, that would be an extreme pipe dream in Canada. While it is possible to get synthetic for around $5 per quart under some very good rollbacks, synthetic has never been regularly priced for $5 a quart, no matter how far you go back.
That being said, at least one of my suppliers has barely touched the price of Mobil 1 in over twenty years (adding only $2 per 4.4 L in all that time). That can't be said for conventional.
