Both Maxlife Synthetics (5w30 and 10w30) meet BMW Longlife 89 spec as does Synpower 5w40. The Maxlife Synthetics are 11.5 cSt at 100C, about 1 cSt thicker than the typical 30 weight. The Synpower 5w40 is 13.9 cSt. I see both listed as SL with SL additive levels per Maxlife 9/04 product data update and Synpower 6/04 product data update. Cold specs look good as does flash point. See Valvoline Technology for data sheets. The Maxlife has killer gobs of calcium (3870 ppm) for cleaning, antiwear, and TBN among other things.

My Maxlife synthetic stash says it meets BMW LL 98 and 01. This is definately a heavily addditized oil. Look in the VOA forum for this oil

I am considering Synthetic Maxlife oil in my BMW. Any thoughts on if maxlife is good in older BMWs. My car seems to like heavier weight oil. Two used oil analysis with Mobil I 0w40 have not been good. High lead. This being the case, I may try a different oil.
Opinions? TIA
