I'm currently running the Super Tech equivalent (same as Mag1) in two vehicles, one that specs for DexII and one for DexIII or Nissan Matic J. Both seem to be shifting fine.

Is this MV ATF better than Dex III/Mercon? It costs more than the Dex III/Mercon but based on the specs it would seem meet more applications.

Is it worth the extra cost and a more versatile (better) ATF, or would one be better off to buy the less expensive DexIII/Mercon?

And, I'm aware of the Super Tech Grease settlement, but am not interested in having that discussion. Just interested in the Mag1/ST Multi Vehicle ATF as spec'd taken at face value. Below find two links to the MV ATF specs.

Thoughts?

My guess is that ST MV is a better fluid than ST regular DexIII (formerly...). I would think that the multi vehicle base oil is stronger. If your vehicles are running well your good to go...

Ok, how about me asking if any Multi-Vehicle ATF like Mag1 in general is preferable to using say Dexron III/Mercon?

Does anyone have any issues with using any Multi Vehicle ATF where the spec says suitable for........ etc. If so, what are the issues and or concerns?

i believe super tech mv is a semi-synthetic, it does have the $3.77 price versus the conventional supertech at $2.67.

supertech's multi vehicle falls into the category of highly friction modified fluid. the additives that make it highly friction modified are synthetic, and only available from a few companies.

i would use it with confidence, as it appears to be "better" fluid than a dex III clone, but as with any application monitor the vehicle after you flush or drain and fill, just in case you have any specific vehicle issues that crop up! mike

I agree. If I was changing the fluid on my Buick and my only options were ST formerly Dex III or ST MV I'd use the MV for the reasons that caravanmike states. I'd also monitor for issues. I'd use the ST MV in place of T-IV in my Corolla. Ironically ST recommends their Mercon fluid (maybe its Mercon V) for my Honda in place of Z1 rather than their MV.

What about using Maxlife? I've seen it for about that price at Wal-mart. I think it is a blend, and a multi-vehicle fluid centered around Dex/Merc. I'm not a fan of multi-vehicle fluids.I don't have any technical data that shows multi-vehicle ATFs are not best, but that's just it. Where is the technical data that the fluid can have proper friction modifier and other additive properties for so many different specs?

Also if your applications are Dexron there's always ST Dex VI. That would be my choice.
