Kinda OT, but I am liking my eBay Sensen struts BTW. I got the set of four from eBay for $118.00 shipped.

Hey there fellow maxima.org member!

For the springs, do you mean sag from the get go or as they age? From what I hear, the Monroe Quick-Strut springs seem to increase the ride height a little in the 5th gen Max/I35's.

Well, when I brought the car in the shop for new struts/shocks, the shop was originaly going to install all Monroes at all 4 corners but at that time, they could only get the Monroe(OE Spectrum) for the rear and the loaded KYB(IIRC, GS-3) for the front. That's the only reason. I have no problem with that

I can't say that the KYB's are a better product than the Monroe's but, I like the IDEA of having the KYB's even though, I've never had issues with Monroe's

The KYB's were only a bit more expensive than the Monroe's(by a small margin) but, the shop only charged me the quoted price. PLUS, the shop does alot of little extras that they don't charge[GOOD] customers for.

This shop always stands by their quote and I've been dealing with them since about 1972 even though I do most of my own work. I would have done the whole job myself if I had the car(daughter's car) for more time(she need the car for her job) and I hadn't just gotten out of the hospital

And, she'll get to write the repairs off on her taxes.

The whole job cost around $900.

* 1 Front lower control arm(Pass Side) MOOG
* 1 Outside CV Joint/Shaft(Drive Side) IDK
* 2 Front Loaded Struts(KYB)
* 2 Rear Shocks Only(MONROE). This is not a loaded assembly! (The rear springs aren't mounted to these shocks, and the rear springs looked great).
* 4 Wheel alignment.

Monroe has a pretty decent shock as long as you stay at the upper range. I have used sensa-track and they were an excellent upgrade on the Cherokee. They lasted about 45k miles when I noticed they appeared worn. Did not have my reciept but when I emailed Monroe they just asked for some markings on the shocks. After giving them that info, they gave me certificates to replace the shocks free. That level of service kept me as a customer. On my Sierra Denali, the factory shocks wore out at 50k miles and rather than replace with OEM I went with Monroe's best Reflex Monotube shock and I could not be happier. Now at 95k miles they appear to still be going strong but I do sense a little more bounce but not bad. So they are lasting atleast as long as the OEM shocks did.

Same deal with quik struts - all good experiences. The only application I haven't used Monroe is on my Corvette which I kept the OEM Bilsteins and my Buick GN which I also put Bilsteins on. I see Monroe as an excellent replacement shock/strut but they are not a hi performance shock maker...for this I tell me to stick with Bilstein, KYB or similar.
