Well, when I brought the car in the shop for new struts/shocks, the shop was originaly going to install all Monroes at all 4 corners but at that time, they could only get the Monroe(OE Spectrum) for the rear and the loaded KYB(IIRC, GS-3) for the front. That's the only reason. I have no problem with that
I can't say that the KYB's are a better product than the Monroe's but, I like the IDEA of having the KYB's even though, I've never had issues with Monroe's
The KYB's were only a bit more expensive than the Monroe's(by a small margin) but, the shop only charged me the quoted price. PLUS, the shop does alot of little extras that they don't charge[GOOD] customers for.
This shop always stands by their quote and I've been dealing with them since about 1972 even though I do most of my own work. I would have done the whole job myself if I had the car(daughter's car) for more time(she need the car for her job) and I hadn't just gotten out of the hospital
And, she'll get to write the repairs off on her taxes.
The whole job cost around $900.
* 1 Front lower control arm(Pass Side) MOOG
* 1 Outside CV Joint/Shaft(Drive Side) IDK
* 2 Front Loaded Struts(KYB)
* 2 Rear Shocks Only(MONROE). This is not a loaded assembly! (The rear springs aren't mounted to these shocks, and the rear springs looked great).
* 4 Wheel alignment.
