I've recently run into a store offering filters from these brands and they're quite cheap too, cheaper than what I'm using currently (Ryco, local oz brand not that great nowadays). I think I have seen them used in commercial settings but have never personally used them or even heard about them much.

I'm thinking of using them for my personal car (old honda), so was wondering what you guys think about these, should I pick one brand over the other? cheers.

Edit - More specifically I'm looking at Baldwin (B1421, B179), fleetguard (Lf3462), donaldson (P550162) or similar

I'd say they're of good quality, but typically not very efficient. All of the filters from Baldwin or Donaldson with an M20x1.5 thread size are 99% at 40 micron at best.

Those three are excellent quality. As stated above, the DBL has pretty much the best media available. The regular media is not very efficient though. It is best to check their website for the exact filter you want to use.

I agree with @MurkyAsparagus. These three make fine filters. I don't know if Donaldson makes one for your car, but if you can find a Donaldson Blue, these are their better filters.
Donaldson makes one (P550162) but I don't think its the blue one, I found it online my cross referencing fleetguard (lf3462) one which is listed compatible for my car

I know with Baldwin, they do not chase a good, better or best line of filters and unless the OEM of the application it is applied to wants better efficiency, then they will make a more efficient filter and list it as such. So whatever Baldwins application guide lists for your vehicle, it is sufficient to meet OEM requirements.

The LF3462 is 95% at 24.6 microns, so not awful, but not fantastic. The P550162 is 99% at 39 microns.

Both are going to be decent quality filters, but nothing to write home on the efficiency front.
