My local firestone store has a $14.95 oil change deal going at the moment. They use Kendall GT-1 Synthetic Blend. I was just curious on everyone's opinion of the oil. It is going in a 2.2L s10 with 186k miles. Thanks in advance.

Check the used oil analysis on Kendall oil, it always appears to be good stuff. It's made by Conoco Phillip's, they also make TropArtic, Motorcraft, and other good oils, but Kendall is their top tier oil.
People will tell you Kendall semi-synthetic is the same as Motorcraft oil, and it might be very similar but it's not the exact same because Kendall has titanium as an additive and Motorcraft doesn't.

I'm running the Kendall Full Synthetic 0w20 in my Impreza and so far so good...
I'm not a Kendall guy but after pennzoil/quaker state I would choose Kendall. The price for their syn-blend oil change is a good price; my only concern is the canister they use to filter oil. I would run it 5k miles no problem.
if you are really getting the oil they say and they are really giving you a new filter that is a good price. Make sure you mark the filter and they drain out all the oil
Kendall oil is bullets as far as I'm concerned. Nothing to worry about there.

That Firestone filter has a very good chance of being an e-core. I'm not saying they are "bad", however, they don't get much good press here either...

Your local Firestone is only having this deal because they will try to upsell additional service(s). I'm thinking S10's of that vintage still used grease fittings? Will they hit those?
I have no used oil analysis to verify anything, but that is all my last 2 company cars have seen, all done at my local Firestone per a fleet maintenance schedule. No problems to report with 5K OCIs to 80,000 miles. Checking the dipstick prior to having the oil changed just to see if it is using any oil, the oil has always looked very clean still.
I'v used the Kendall semi-syn 5w20. I think its a really good oil to use. The semi-syn is all I can find in my area. I wanted to start using the full syn, but can only find it online.
I was using Kendall 5w20 blend forever. Great oil. Wear numbers were always great. use with confidence!
