I was curious about everyones opinion on how long bottles of oil can sit after they have been opened. Does it even matter? I don't really know if there is any difference between before and after the seal on a bottle is broken. I am asking because I have a 5 quart bottle of Pennzoil with 3 quarts left that will be used as makeup oil but it will be sitting for quite a while before it gets used up.

I just got done using up the last of a Mobil 1 5 qt jug that was SL so atleast 4-5 years old.

No worries. Just use it when you can. A few years is NOT an issue.

I really can't leave it anywhere else other than the garage. I can pretty assure you it won't be too damp. I heard yesterday we have only had 8 inches of rain this year. We are in a pretty serious drought.
