I recently disected a couple oil filters. I post one of the Chinese filters that I am going to start using because it impressed me as the best out of three, a Champ E-core, Purolator classic and the Royal(Chinese). The Purolator came off my Dodge Hemi and I think that the Bypass is awful on the Purolator, it has this little Flash Gordon type spring washer, held on with a rivit, its held on good, I couldnt pry it off, I also could not get it to open. It was super tight, where other bypass valves, I could push open, this thing I couldnt get to open but just a tiny bit pushing on it with a screw driver. I am planning on cutting open a another one, new one this time and check it out maybe I had a defective one. I got a case of these Purolator classics to use up, but I dont care for that by-pass valve. I dont run long oil changes, but that filter would never let it suck enough oil in bypass.
