one last try ( piston soak)

Repeated MMO/Seafoam soaks = P0420. Cats hate Pale oil. And besides, no piston soaks going to create piston ring oil return holes, the fatal design flaw. Doh! no holes.

5. Stick a chemically resistant Ultrasonic agitator (like a Sonic toothbrush) down the 4 holes and use the High-frequency Ultrasonics to clean it up.

Kinda kidding, kinda serious.....

What, no one liked my idea??

Yes! really good idea!

MMO easy to get your hands on... no waiting. And MMO is made for piston soaks.

Were you paid to make the above post? LOL!

MMO was made for aircraft use IIRC. And there are far more effective solvents for removing varnish and carbon. And he's tried most of them.

I KNOW for a fact that on various forums you have paid viral marketers out there, and his post sounds like one.

You have good radar OVERKILL.

LOL. So should I do the valve cover gasket and. Tube seals it doesn't appear to be leaking but maybe??? The wires are oily the tube doesn't have oil on it and the area where Cover meets head looks good.

Well, I'd figure out what you are going to do with the car before spending more money on it IMHO. No sense in replacing those if you are going to tear into it to fix the consumption. Just do it then.

If thicker oils have increased consumption have you tried running the thinnest oil you can for while. You have obviously gotten enough solvent(s) on the problem area, now you some type of flow to carry the crud away.
Run some ST5w20 with a mix of mmo to thin it even more. You've nothing to loose at this point.

^If he's going to add MMO or Kreen to anything, it ought to be to a 30 multi-grade at least since these will bring the viscosity down some.

I'd add Kreen to standard PCMO, perhaps a HM oil; as a 'thickest' for those uses(kreen/solvent uses) in this app. I would not use Kreen or MMO with diesel/dual rated oils.

EDIT: Actually, on this engine I'd use MaxLife 10w-40 HM + kreen...but if ya need to get kreen and use w/e is on hand save your money for the kreen.

Well if I do end up re ringing the engine it won't be for awhile. And why would I want use a thin oil it'll burn it even faster.

He's thinking it'll flow by the rings more and the rate it does might help...idk about that one. Maybe if it were a video game, but the thicker oil theoretically will travel by the rings 'more slowly' which is also better in some senses.

Chevy...if you buy kreen get it ONLY in quart containers, shipping goes through the rough(roof lol...saved original for laughter) in larger containers due to hazardous materials(like 1 gallon is probably $300 to ship to you), but 1-2 quarts should be anywhere from $30-$50 to ship.

If you use it, don't use it with diesel please, but thats just my opinion. I suppose any conventional will do. Its just that those oils are supposed to handle fuel dilution better, etc, so will that negate some of the potency of kreen? That's sort of my thinking point on that one.

Kreen in the oil for several oil change intervals and if the consumption doesn't go down it was worth a shot, use the rest in the gas and on the truck.

He has tried this already hasn't he? That is why I suggested a 5w20 with some mmo or whatever, to get a thin mix for a little while and work some crud loose.
