I send my samples into the lab, but have noticed more and more heavy truck lube shops are doing the oil analysis thing on site. Given any allowances for technology increases over the years, have these on site "lab" machines made it into the 21st century and therefore can be considered trust worthy for at least a minimal oil analysis program? I was watching one shop do a sample. They cleaned out the system pretty good after doing one, so it seems that they are trained properly on doing them. But still wondering if the results come anywhere close to reliable. Comments?
