Oldest daily driver, highest mileage daily driver

Oldest - Friend has a 37 Chevy 4-door sedan. He works 4 days a week and still drives this car every day he works. Car has been in the family since new. It's never been restored, just carefully maintained, vary carefully.

Highest Mileage - Me. 1984 Honda Civic wagon, 5-speed 4-door, my daily driver to work. 416,512 miles. I bought it new in late 1984 and it has never let me down. It is also very carefully maintained by me. The only outside repair has been alignment and upholstery and valve seal replacement in a friend's shop, twice, oh and A/C leak checking and recharging.

Both cars live in S.California so they don't see any weather. Neither has seen snow and seldom temps below freezing. Also neither car has seen much rain either.

Oldest - I drive my 70 Lincoln Mk III about 60 miles a day. It only has 86K on it though.

Not the highest here, but I'm drving the highest-mileage car I even have so far. Not the oldest, but the highest mileage.

I just rolled my '94 F250 over 424,000 yesterday. I guess its not really 'rolled' though as it has a digital odometer.

There is a neighbor that lives a couple miles down the road that has a 1 ton Dodge pickup with a Cummins that he uses to transport cars all over the lower 48 (pulls a 3 or 4 car trailer). Last I knew (couple years ago) he had around 700,000 on it. I think (not positive) that it's a 2000 or 2001. He still makes runs with it every week.

I guess it's technically a daily driver since he drives it every day he works.

I'll have to look up what a 37 Chevy sedan is like. Inline 6 and flat heads, 3 speed manual?

Cripes, you guys have me smoked. Daughters college car (2000 Olds Alero - 3.4) turned 190K yesterday. Used the GM OLM with conventional since new. Still a daily driver.

About 6 years ago my daily driver was a '98 Chev K1500 with 180k miles on it. It got there on regular conventional oil changed at 3k (5k km) OCIs, regular coolant changes, transmission fluid changes every 60k miles, one LIM gasket, 1 water pump, 1 alternator and brakes a few times.

This taught me that just about any decent vehicle properly maintained can give reliable and economical service for at least 180k miles. Problem is, our transportation needs tend to change over time.....and we get bored.

Still running great when I sold it.

Most of you have me soundly whupped. Oldest is the 12 year old Buick that gets driven 50-100 miles a day for work, with 98k miles on it.

1995 Sentra 1.6L automatic ~ 15 years 350k. I gave the car away and it is still being daily driven. I would have kept it but the salty Michigan roads had eaten it up too much.

Now there's a guy who got the value out of paying the CTD option price. Not to mention how much gas he saved over those miles.

92 Toyota 4x4 pickup with a swapped Yota diesel. The truck just turned over 300000miles a week ago and the motor is at about 250000 miles. No real problems other than getting the injectors and pump rebuilt. Change to the ULSD did that to those pumps. Its rusty but it always goes.

The six is an overhead valve engine. I don't think Chevy made any flathead six's.

While my '87 Dakota 4x4 only has 160,000 miles on it, my old '94 Ranger that I gave to my daughter to drive is going strong with 360,000 original miles with no major work ever done on it.
I consider that remarkable for a Ford.
While the Ranger came from Atlanta about 4 years ago, the Dakota has always been here in central NY.

Traded in a Volvo 850 with a mere 340,000 miles. It still felt more solid than a lot of cars I see with 1/4 that.

84 Toyota PU, 70K and is due to get it's first replacement muffler (when the weather gets warmer).
In the last 3 years I've replaced the clutch master cyl and a brake light bulb.
Always gets better than 30 mpg (best was 35 mpg) consumes 1/2 liter of oil during a 5k oci
