Old Toyota Land Cruiser in parking lot

Buddy had one like that was a 77-78. I had my 78 CJ7 (still have it lol) and we would always go hit the trails together. While I prefer the Jeep I respected that land cruiser as it was built like a tank and didn't rust like Jeeps. It went everywere I could go.

I had a 1974 FJ40 on which I did an on frame restoration in the mid-1990's. It was definitely not built for comfort. From the looks of the grill and the front turn signals, this very well could be a 25+ year import from overseas. Nice specimen though.

the crudest 4x4 i ever drove . even my scout 80 seem luxurious compared to these

It could have been the sample I drove, but the steering was so deeply geared that you had to effort it back to center - it wouldn’t self center - which was probably correct for something that heavy, for off road use, without power steering.

There was so much torque that it was hard to get a feel for the clutch. Just moving your leg was all it took to drive.
