My friend said he has few old blue P1 filters and some yellow sandpaper grip ones. Wondered what differences are.

The yellow ones are older. Blue ones are the latest version.
Wrong. Ones he has are 2014-2015 era ones

Sometimes some pretty heavy over spray on base plate. Check threads where screws on motor

It’s the opposite. They were blue before they were yellow and had the grip texture. They’re back to being blue.
Yup, you are right. Do you remember the PSL “synthetic”? Purolators. I sure do.

I was thinking since they are currently blue now & know the yellows were older but appears they did use blue before yellow too. Interesting!
And around time they had the first blie P1 they had a Purolator “synthetic” that had PSL part #’s

They were the darling of BITOG back when they were sandy yellow. Things change.
Aren't the yellow ones from the Tearolator era, when we had dozens of posts here on BITOG about Purolator filters failing on the seams? Many here speculated that the reason Purolator changed color and naming on all their filters a few years ago, was to get away from the terrible reputation that they had earned with the older filters.

Ok yea I definitely remember those bad boys. I used a lot of Puros but mostly just the white cans and pure ones.
