Old Lorain Assembly

When I was in Ohio and I had a free day, I decided to take a short trip out to the old Lorain Assembly plant. Over the years they made a bunch of different vehicles. The Galaxy, the Thunderbird, and most recently the Econoline. The line closed in 2005 for good, and a few distribution companies have rented small portions of it, but a lot of it is just empty, collapsed or torn donw buildings. Train yards, loading docks. It's just an eerie place to be, such a big area, and so quiet and empty. Especially the video I took of the inside of the plant. It's so quiet you can hear footprints. The only sound was the wind and the sound of old metal clanging against each other. I'm in the process of uploading those videos to youtube now, but it will take some time as they are full 1080p video.

Parking lot, and one of the businesses the operates out of it. Also, the old loading docks for loading cars onto the trains.

Lake Erie just across the road, behind my grandfathers escape I used for this excursion.

I spent a good hour and a half driving around and taking pictures and video.

Nothing much left but huge, empty, cracked parking lots. The old main entrance, bare now.

At 0:24 or so in the video are a few of those overhead lights powered on? Could just be a reflection, but 3 or 4 of them appear to be illuminated.

Nice pics and video Nick, thanks for sharing. I do some Urban Exploring, but in Cent. Florida, once a building is abandoned, it is refurbed or destroyed.

I would love to look around in some of the buildings, take pictures and look at the old machinery.
