Old Havoline in Jeep 4.0

I still have 6 qts. of old Havoline I picked up on clearance three years ago. I ran this oil with an Advance Auto red filter two summers ago and thought my Cherokee's engine sounded louder. Now that would go against what used to be a well-established thought here: that Jeep 4.0s loved old Havoline.

I'm due for an oil change in the next 2 weeks. I'd like to use this oil up since it's the oldest I own. So is there any reason to think that my engine would be any different with this oil than the others that produced great used oil analysis? And just because it's noticeably louder, does that necessarily mean it's a negative?

I'm going to use the AAP filter again since I've got several to use up. If I choose not to go with the Havoline, I've also got Valvoline, Pennzoil and Castrol to choose from. (This will be a 3000-3500 mile run, lasting from early Feb. to about June.)

I assume we are talking about something like a 10w30. Most oils have a shelf life of between 5-7 years. If it is the correct viscosity I would have no problem using it.

The old Havline is an excellent oil! Use it!

Not that the 'new' stuff isbad, but I loved the mega-moly does the 'old' stuff used.....

IIRC, one of the best used oil analysis on a 4.0L was with Havoline 10W30.

Do you recall if anyone else reported a noisier engine while running the stuff?

I'm kind of anxious to try the same oil and filter combo again just to see if I notice it like I thought I did before.

I've never had any noise using the 10W30 and 40 flavors in my 2.5L & 4.0L Jeeps. My wife's Malibu Maxx did well on 5W30.

The Havoline used oil analysis I've seen look very nice, lots of moly in that stuff.

The older Havoline had a good dose of moly but the new stuff they are making now does not. Still has some but in a very small amount.

My jeep is very noisey on Havoline and Chevron oil. UOA showed that it didn't hurt anything.
