Castrol Syntec or Texaco Havoline?

I'm currently running Mobil 1 10w30 in my 4.0 Jeep Wrangler and am considering switching to 10W-40 in either the Castrol Syntec or the Texaco Havoline oil. I know that the Castrol is a synthetic and that the Havoline is a conventional oil but from what I can gather from reading this site the Havoline 10W-40 is a good oil for this motor (cheaper too). Any thoughts on which one to use? I try and change my oil at around 3K miles and I use a Wix filter

Last week my FIL goofed. Before a long trip through the desert he cheched the Grand Cherokey 4.0's oil and coolant. It has over 200,000 miles on the clock. He only put the radiator cap back on the first step. He didn't want to stop in the middle of nowhere but the knocking and the smell of smoke forced him to stop anyways. 2 hrs later the wrecker showed up and refilled the radiator with 2 gallons of water and the driver followed him to the next town. Everything seemed ok so he continued to his destination with no more problems.

I drove the Cherokey last weekend and I drained 1 gal of water and added a gal of coolant. It's running a little rough and there is some air bubbling from the radiator but for now it drives good.

The oil looked, felt and smelled brandnew. It's Castrol GTX 10w-40. I don't think synthetic is nescessary in most cars but I do think 10w-40 is DARN good oil. Joe

I say Havoline for up to 4K, maybe 5K. From the used oil analysis here, pretty much anything is gonna be better in the 4.0 than Mobil 1 10W30.
