I was recently helping my weakling cousin move and he dropped his half of 40+ inch TV. Being a good red blooded American, I took the hit to save the TV and pretty much allowed it to fall on me, knocking me on my back. Anyway, I found some percocet pills in the medicine cabinet from 1988. Do you think they are safe to use? My leg is still very tender and I can’t stand going to the doctor. Any pharmacists, nurses or doctors out there? Thanks everyone.

i doubt its harmful (i am an engineer though not a doctor) but its probably not as effective as it once was. try something over the counter that has fewer side effects.
You really need to clean out your medicine cabinet dont you think.
I wouldnt take those, I also doubt they would be harmful but you dont want to be the one to find out.

Mmmm, vintage Vegemite. It's the extra mites that make it good.
At the very least it's lost the majority of it's potency and it worthless. At worst it can cause other issues.
Destroy them, then go see your doctor and get some fresh medication if you think you need it.
The expiration date normally means that the drug is at about 80% of it's fresh effectiveness under the worst storage conditions. I can assure you the expiration date on that passed many years ago.

If you can stomach vegemite, I dont see how it would bother you much if it was out of date.quote:

FWIW, a certain retail giant pulls its OTC stuff atleast 3 months before the printed expiration date. This is by policy, not necessarily in 100% compliance.

Check with your local city or county health department. They often hold events where you can dispose of old medicines safely. I wouldn't flush it unless there's not a safe alternative and I certainly wouldn't take anything that old.
Not to mention that taking someone else's prescription controlled substance is against the law. Depending on your line of work you might not want to risk it (ie if you are subject to urinalysis etc). Otherwise I concur that the stuff is probably not going to do any more for you than a Motrin would at this point.
