Old Castrol "Formerly Syntec" still on the shelf

This stuff has been on the shelf at my Local NAPA for a little while I’d say:

“Formerly Syntec”. This stuff has to be pre-2010, right?

Would you use it? Seems like it should probably be discarded.

Maybe they're looking at it like a "Fine Wine", it only gets better with age.

Is there a lot of it there? I'd be curious if it's actually in their system if they scanned it.

Local Autozone has some old fluids on the clearance shelf but the prices are on par with new oil at Walmart. So why bother.

Would you use it?

As long as it otherwise met the specs I needed and was competitively priced, yes without hesitation. The age wouldn't make me blink.

$12/quart would make me chuckle and think "Yup, that's why it's still sitting there. Mystery solved."

I miss that bottle design. ALways liked how sharp it was. I miss those clear quaker state bottles too I liked looking at them.

LOL I think 10w-30 is a slow seller these days can't remember what auto parts store I was in last summer but the 10w-30 they had bunch of accumulated dust. Auto parts stores near me have crazy high prices on oil.

Before carquest closed they had several cases of valvoline 20w20 on the shelf. So old the white bottles had turned yellow

Rarely anyone buys quarts from those stores which is why they are always old so they collect dust. They are ridicuously over priced even from Walmart. I always buy the jugs, use the rest for top-off or for the next oil change.

I only bought liter bottles when I had cars that used oil between changes.
None of them do now so they're pointless for me.
