Got the ticking from the silverado as i stated a few weeks ago. I am currently running Mobil 1 5w30. The tick got a lil quieter after mmo but than got louder. Now it seems i hear it loud sometimes than not at all other times. I want to run some Deere 15W40 Plus50II I have. Will that do anything for me? Is that too thick? Also whats a good way to clean out my engine. Its not sludgey at all. always had 3-5K OCIs on dyno. any advice? Thanks in advance

I would not suggest changing the weight of the oil you use to correct a tic, assuming you are using what is listed in the owners manual. Use decent oil and reasonable OCI.

Heavier oil can mask tick, but not eliminate it. Try Techton, cleaning intake, throttle body italian tune up. If it continues try adding can of MoS2. And inspection mentioned above.

The last 2 I had (5.3L and 6.0L ) were worse. so, I am speaking from experience.

We have a bunch of these and nary an issue. I have had one bad cam in a GM v8, and I buy a LOT of them. Most run 250k miles or much more without any major repairs at all.

If my 4.3 V6 was a-ticking I'd want to run some kreen through it if it was a high mileage dino-fed motor. It could be a tiny bit of gunk on a lifter, or a rocker arm, or it may be absolutely nothing.

We have one service van with about 200k miles on it that has been ticking since it was new. They have roller bearing rocker arms that can make a tiny tick at idle only.

In short, if you don't know what it is it's hard to tell you what to do about it!

I seafoamed it tonight and its pretty much gone. Put it in through the vaccume line 3/4 of the can probably than put the rest in the oil. It smoked like crazzy for probably 10min and now i dont hear it. It may come back but for now i think its gone
