Ok to blend?

Hi guys, I was just wondering if it's ok to mix 2 qts of valvoline maxlife blend with tropartic or with supertech synthetic? I have two 5w30 qts of maxlife that i want to use but dont want to buy 2 more cause it'll cost me over seven dollars when I usually buy the 5 qt jugs for $11. I'd rather not stock up on extra oil either that's why im not buying one now and saving the extra 3 qts for later. Anyways so what would be the best stuff to mix it with? Oh and would it be a good idea to use Supertech synthetic instead of maxlife for future oil changes? It's only about $1.50 more for the 5qt jug.
I've only had the car for two oil changes and used maxlife so far. 5w30 and now have 10w40 in it. 2000 Mitsubishi eclipse 2.2l engine. 99k miles. I don't see any positive or negative changes since using it so if Supertech would be a better choice i'm willing to switch.

Mix til your hearts content. I have mixed quite a bit and oil analysis were fine.

I don't think there is much harm in it but I prefer to stick with a brand/grade for an OCI.

I don't always blend, but when I do it's from the same blender/line.


The only time I'd do this is for dialing in a visc if it relieved consumption ..but I didn't want to go overboard. I don't have any vehicles that require this mobo-limbo at the present time.

I assume you already have the Supertech and Trop Artic on hand. Blending all three together is fine. I would keep your OCI to 5K thou.

If you don't have the Supertech or Trop Artic at home, then you can save a few dollars & stay in the Valvoline family by purchasing inexpensive Napa conventional or synthetic oil. It's slightly diluted Valvoline oil at a bargain price. Blending that with Maxlife keeps you in the same oil brand family.
