CRV I will keep and use as a beater, maybe.

Wife wants a brand new EV, not a hybrid. I had this thread, but too particular: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/import-only-from-japan-rav4-plugin-hybrid.398095/

Prefers SUV type, but is a little flexible. Around $60K max would nice (me talking)

I'm stuck. Brain lock. So I open up to you folks!!

200-300 mile range?
Charge at home 99.9%
No gas stations, no hybrids.
Mostly for in county driving for the next 7.5 years.
Reliable.
Longish battery life.

GO!

Too bad we won't get the new Buick Electra here, only in China!

Series hybrid, like the Volt was, except 100 miles of all electric driving range! On top of that LiFePo4 batteries, so minimal fire hazard and fast charging. 1.5T for the generator motor. Total range 900 miles!
GM& SAIC venture, but I suspect that "someday" Cadillac will bring it out as a new model and charge a 50% premium for it.

Tesla has mobile service options if that is of value. You might need to see if you are within their service area. Worth digging into. The Model Y is good value, but everything is throgh a central screen. If you want a lever for things like wipers, then stay away.

Welcome to the dark side young Skywalker...
Tesla will let you take one overnight, at least they used to. A Model Y Juniper refresh would be my recommendation. At end-of-quarter Tesla runs deals.

Oh yeah, how ya gonna charge? You need a 240V source.

Chevy bolt. I'm reading that the Caddy liriq is already seeing large discounts. Skip the Tesla and their drama. I know a few will shout Tesla....

I would give the new Polestar consideration - the latest model is an attractive SUV. They start around 60 K but they quickly get up over 80K.

I’ve driven the Bolt - it’s a tiny economy car with short range. 180 mile trips are at the limit of what it can do, no traffic, in summer. Sure, it’s cheap, but it’s an around town runabout that feels as cheap as it is. It’s perfect for the kids, as they don’t drive much (they live in downtown DC, and walk, bike or Metro most of the time) and it’s easy to park and cheap to own.

Get a good charger. Ours is hardwired for 60A service, meaning it will charge at 48A (they all run at 80% of rated capacity) and it easily switches between J1172 (our new Volvo PHEV and our son’s Bolt run the J1172) and NACS (Tesla).

Sorry in advance, but a plug in Rav4 has 300 hp, and more than 40 miles of pure EV range. No EV range anxiety, and very cheap to drive. I want one, but I'm cheap, and my Civic is still low mileage...

...also Mustang Mach E.
I rode once in back seat in Amsterdam in Mach E. It is by far the most uncomfortable rear seat I have ever set in, including Yugo, Moskvich and/or Trabant.
The reason is that there is some pipe under the seat, and seat is so thin, that you have a feeling you are sitting on a pipe. Luckily, pipe is in horizontal position!

It gets very favorable reviews across the board for some reason. I've yet to drive one. 🤷‍♂️ Not just C&D either, many YT reviews are all positive. Kinda surprised me actually.

Start with the cheapest the new limited edition bolt, then go drive a bunch.

The equinox EV isnt the same shape as the gas model. but looks decent.
