I know you wanted a digicam that used AA batteries, but I just bought a Canon SD1000. I've had the SD110 for 3 years and it was getting a little dated.

I bought the camera, a 4 GB SDHC card and an extra Canon battyer for under $200.

This camera is tiny compared even to the old SD110.

After taking almost 300 pics (80% with flash), the battery is still going strong - amazing!

The 4GB card will hold 1200+ pics at full 7 mp and highest quality setting.

I'm really impressed.

The only negative I have to say about the A720 is that since it has only 2 aa batteries, its flash recharge time between shots is slow.

MY Daughter came home the other night with this complaint. We did some tests and it is slow. Esp if the batteries have some time on them and are low.

Other than that, I like the camera so much I'm picking up one to replace my wifes A610 (which is a excellent camera)

Take care, Bill

Seems to be the best price around for a good camera with a wide-angle lens....

I've used my Mom's SD800IS (predecessor to SD870IS I think?) and I'm quite impressed with the pics and video. Decent shutter lag, very compact, made in Japan too.

I bought the SD850IS - identical to the SD870IS, except no wide angle lens.
