OK Amsoil...What's up with this?

Not sure what the complaint is here. Amsoil has always been a premium product and the price reflects this. It's even less price competitive when you add on shipping charges.

But, it's still good product and to many people it's worth the $$. I've used any number of their products and never felt I paid too much.

If I did, I wouldn't buy it. That seems easy enough to me.

Schaeffers has a similar problem but to a lesser degree and it depends on where you live, your local dealers, etc. Good product, but sometimes the shipping kills the deal.

So what's the complaint again?

Yeah. The last $.79 dozen eggs I bought cost $1.81. Don't worry though Buster. Helicopter Bernanke says we're not seeing inflation. We're just seeing "price increases"...

Shipping does kill the deal quite often. The products Amsoil was comparing are shown retail off the shelf price. Amsoil quotes all the oils in retail then shows the dealer/pc price on theirs.

If you showed Amsoil's retail prices for that oil $ 7.70 a quart before shipping. About $1.25 per quart higher than the products they compared. Add shipping and your talking $ 2.00 a quart higher. Add the roughly 9% in Aug. to that and then your merging on 3 dollars a quart higher to your door. Amsoil is top notch...no disagreement here. Just don't like there way they did the comparison or the way AJ in his editors note let the beans out of the hat.

if you don't like the increase in prices, don't buy the product. Nothing screams louder than speaking with your wallet. Were seeing that now with guzzlers and lattes from starbucks.

I saw today at Autozone that M1 extended drain oil is over $7 a qt.I also know that it is not quite as good as Amsoil. It's like my dad told me one time, " you get what you pay for".

got a good deal through a dealer friend of mine but now he emails me all the time with price increases,still have have 5 gals on hand but once that runs out i'm looking elsewhere.

if M1 had a injector 2 smoke oil i'd be all over it.......

In my opinion, run Amsoil Oil like the other oils and You may find that Amsoil may be like all of the other oils...no special equipment installation, just run Amsoil Oil like you would any other oil through the filter of your choice then run the tests like UOA or whatever.....Amsoil may work as well as any other oil.......In my opinion...

I saw AMSoil was up to $13.99 at our local Canadian Tire the other day.

Seriously guys, I almost blew a fuse. It's good stuff, but I can get SuperTech or Motomaster syn for half the price, and do the change twice, and still get more mileage out of my OCI's versus a single AMSoil OCI. And I'm not even talking when the Motomaster stuff goes on sale for $4/quart, I'm speaking full regular price...


I might do AMS tranny fluid when I get it flushed, but that's cause I don't believe in the factory's "lifetime" (read: warranty time) fluid.

This is why Amsoil needs to start to market group III lube products. They can keep the price down if they continue to not become involved with starbursts and cert tests. I am sure Amsoil can make a group III oil for half that price or less.

If it's too expensive for you don't buy it. I personally would never pay more than $5 a quart for syn oil. That means I can buy Mobil 1 and PP all day long.

Amsoil does market a Group III product. It is called the XL line. But beyond that, why would they want to try and go up against Group III/PAO blends like M1 and PP? Economies of scale will always give producers like XOM and Shell a price advantage at the local Wally World for consumers that want an affordable synthetic. The niche for blenders like Amsoil will always be to satisfy the wants and needs of consumers who desire the very best lubricants regardless of price.
