Oil Warehouse & Storage Tanks Fire

I saw the Council Bluffs dateline on TV & immediately assumed that the SuperTech blender, Warren Performance, was going up in smoke!

However, the reports indicate it is an ExxonMobil distributor by the name of Stern Oil.

Hopefully, all the employees got out safely, I hate to see anyone get hurt on the job...

I was wondering why the jump in gas prices yesterday and a jump in oil stocks. Maybe this was the reason?

I find it hard to believe that a fire at a midwestern motor oil distributor would affect the worldwide price of crude oil.

An AP article in the NYT says about the price increase:

1. falling U.S. crude inventories,
2. threats by OPEC to reduce production, and
3. unrest in Nigeria.
