For whatever reason, this "1st engine oil" claim is on the Valvoline/UK site.

It may relate to the fact that Charles Wakefield developed the Castrol, castor bean based lubricants, in England, at about the same time.

OK, Bruce, I don't know that one..

My guess is the T stands for Turbine, E may be engine, but I haven't puzzled out the D yet!
