I have an 08 Jeep with a light indicating when to change oil. It doesn't give any % , just comes on when it is time to change the oil. First time it came on at 2602 miles and I had it for just about 9 months.

I have the Jeep for 25 months now and just under 10,000 miles and it hasn't come on again. I change oil every 6 months so it doesn't matter. As soon as the light came on the last time I reset it.

I did disconnect the battery about 3 weeks ago. Would that erase the memory? Even so the light should have come on simply based on time prior to me disconnecting the battery.

Thanks

I doubt disconnecting the battery would reset the oil light...I had a new muffler put on my Impala and they disconnected the battery when welding.......the only thing was the radio and compass that was reset.

To reset the change oil light. Key on engine off, step on gas pedal 3 times fast, turns the light off. Just based on time alone that light should have come on again since it last came on. I really don't care I change oil by time on that vehicle. So much for the oil change light in my Jeep.

Try a quart of MMO in the oil and see if it lubricates/cleans and stabilizes that light.....

Might be the best thing I can do for it. 180,000 miles on the Aerostar and my mechanic that had it on the NYS sniffer today was impressed.

A shameless MMO plug, I anxiously await my free product.

I'm pretty much the only person driving it, I didn't reset it no way no how. But as I said I did disconnect the battery, only thing that got knocked out was the radio, and driver settings for the seat, and mirrors.
