My cars manufactured recommended oil is 0w-40 VW spec 511.00.
Liqui Moly only comes in 5w-40 VW spec 511.00.
Is that going to be an issue?

Wow! Please wash it before you bring it back to me 😁.

Oh, and you can effectively disregard viscosity grade, just find a good VW 511.00 approval rated one. Me personally, I would forego the LM for the Mobil 1 ESP X3, but thats just me. I believe VAG is using Mobil ESP oils as their factory fills and branded dealer offerings these days. The M1 also happens to be 0W-40, which lends some support to theory of VAG partnering with Mobil.

You won't find many, if at all, 0w-40 with the 511 approval other than Mobil. We also have the 5W-40, but Mobil is pretty tight on controlling their additives for newer oils and from what I am told, puts some contracts in place so they are the only ones allowed to purchase it for some time before it's released to everyone else.

I haven't found any other brands offering the 0W-40, but the 5w-40 would be perfectly suited for what you would need, and as for the factory warranty, it may not be the exact same viscosity, but if it's factory approved, that's good enough for government work lol

Mobil is in fact the OE these days to VAG

,
True, the vast majority of VW 511 00 approved oils are 5W-40 flavour.
Only four are 0W-40: M1 ESP X3, M1 ESP X4 and VW's and Audi's own
offerings, more than likely XOM-made too.

The Mobil 1 X4 0w-40 ESP oil is what I bought to keep a quart or two in the trunk for long road trips where the engine may need a top up. The M1 is readily available at my local auto store so you tellling me this is super great news. Thank you!

Sorry, I listed the M1 as the X3 formula which is API SN. New X4 stuff is API SP, not that you have to worry about LSPI. In fact, you don't even have to worry about ANYTHING rated API xx. Look for the REAL approval/ratings; VW 511.00, MB 229.5x, BMW LL-0x, C40 etc. when choosing oil.

I saw the Mobil 1 X4 ESP
OIL was the only brand other than Audi own oil with the proper rating. I already purchased some. Thanks so much!

Right buy, TOP oil.

Valvoline in Europe not really, very low or directly zero OEM oil, most OEM oils here are Castrol, Mobil, Petronas, Shell and Total aka base oil producers and some of the few additive producers (Mobil/Shell).

Any brand with that approval (bonified, not just "recommended for use in vehicles requiring...") will be a quality oil. Liqui Moly included.
