Oil Recommendation for a Friend's Truck

Vehicle: 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 w/5.7L Hemi V8
Mileage: 124,000 miles
Area/Terrain: Central West Virginia, hills & mountains

Daily commute 5 days per week is 6 mile round trip, 50% stop/go 50% highway. 3 highway (55mph+) trips per week at 22 miles each. 2-3 interstate (70mph+) trips per week roughly 30 miles each. Occasional off roading.

What's your recommendation for my friend's truck? I recommended MaxLife blend or Pennzoil High Mileage changed every 5,000-6,000 miles.

The HM oils you're thinking of are good suggestions. Another good idea is the cheapest synthetic on sale.

the Hemi engine is easy on oil. Any quality 5w20 or 5w30 would do well in that truck for 5-6k.

I think you have the right idea. Valvoline MaxLife, Pennzoil HM, or Mobil Super HM is what I'd recommend unless your friend wanted to go with synthetic.

We settled on Valvoline MaxLife in the recommended 5W-20 & a Fram Tough Guard filter. Just changed it a few minutes ago. Planning on a 5,500-6,500 OCI.
