German Castrol(Syntec) 0w30. It is a hair thinner than a 40 weight. Its one of if not thee thickest 30 weights.

It is also a GREAT, proven to perform, oil.

Most people with the Nissan/Infinity V-6 run 5/10w-30. Probably a pretty even split between conventional or synthetic. My choice would be Valvoline Maxlife for a conventional/blend, due to your vehicles age. Penn Plat 5w-30 would be my Syn choice. I am sure others will ring in with their choices. Happy Motoring

I used to have a '95 Maxima, which had virtually the same engine; I later did an engine swap with the VQ30DE-K, which is the same engine you have. I ran Mobil 1, Amsoil ASL, the old Amsoil TSO, and Red Line 5w-30. It seemed to like the Amsoil oils the best.

Mobil 1 0w-40 is REALLY good oil, but there's no need for oil that thick in that engine. It likes 30-weights -- thick 30-weights, but still 30-weights.

Amsoil ASL, on the other hand, is one of the best oils on the market for that engine. If you're using it, I'd recommend sticking with it, honestly.

If you really want to try something new, here's my hit list for that engine, in order of preference:

- RLI 0w-30
- RLI 5w-30
- BMW High Performance Synthetic 5w-30
- Castrol Syntec 0w-30

However, like I said, Amsoil ASL is definitely one of the best choices you have, so you can't go wrong sticking with it.

thanks for your suggestions the last uoa i did was with maxlife synthetic 5w30 and showed high copper and lead wich was why i was thinking of going up a grade the fact that mobil 0w40 shears to a high 30 i was thinking it would be a good choice

how many miles will be on your sample and how many miles are on the vehicle? Amsoil ASL is a good choice and usually last longer than 15,000 miles in a clean engine.
Changing brands of oil between oil changes is not the best way to find the best oil for any type application.
Taking oil samples over a period of time reveals the true condition of oil and a engine.
you cant change brands of oil take samples and get good verifiable results.
Your first oil sample will always have initial results, it is the second sample with the same lubricant that opens the window on your lubricants performance. the term that is used for this type of viable information is TRENDING

i have 175k on it and 4k on the oil sample i shortened it because blackstone told me not to run this oil too far out

whenever you can please post up the results of your oil sample.
Im sure the sample results are better than Blackstones comments
