My 2001 Honda S2000 has 25k Miles and in winter storage at the moment.
Im wondering what you all reccomend when I take it out this spring.

I had this car since new and it has been babied with exeption of 2-3 track days a year.
Surprisingly my F20C1 does not burn ANY oil no matter how hard I drive it, even during track duty. I havent had any oil consumption since its first synthetic oil change at 5000kms in 2002.

For the past 5 years I have been using Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic High Mileage 10W30 (I stocked up on the red bottles/silver stickered label a while back) with the Honda S2000 OEM filter. I have since ran out of the Valvoline and am now looking for alternatives. I believe the Valvoline has served me well as I have had no issues or oil consumption.

Honda reccomends 10W30 or 5W40.

One spring i decided to try GC 0W30 but felt the engine lost power when hot. Knowing the GC is a higher viscosity oil when hot (close to a 40wt), i decided to change it out and back to Valvoline Maxlife HM Synthetic and all was normal again.

So what are all of your reccomendations? Its only a summer car, I put about 2-5000kms on it a year with a few track days. Redline to 9000rpms very very occasionally. I dump the oil in the fall, store it with cheap dyno oil, then put fresh synthetic in the spring again.

Thanks in advance!!

If it ain't broke dont fix it. You been having good luck with maxlife.....

But if you want a change how bout a euro oil? Mobil 0/40 would suit it nicely or Pennzoil Ultra 5w40

I havent been able to find the Maxlife High Mileage Synthetic 10W30 in the Toronto area. Unless someone knows where to get it in the GTA.

40wt seems too thick in the F20 IMO...it felt sluggish with GC in the past

Yeah but man your turning the [censored] out of it. And maxlife is dang near a 40 anyway. Give it a shot. GC is a whole different critter

Mobil 1 Euro 0W40 i can find easily. Excuse my ignorance but which brand is PU? Pennzoil Ultra? :P

I recommend you start enjoying the car a lot more. 2001 and only 25k on it? Come on. I put on 60k on my 2005 S2k in 2 years just enjoying the living stuff outta it!

Oil selection for the S2000 gets discussed quite a bit over at s2ki.com, but be prepared for lots of different inputs.

Since you drive your car seasonally and mostly for fun, most any 10w30 SN/SM/SL engine oil would work well. Over the last 9 years I've tried a few in my 2004 and have settled on Castrol Edge FST with Titanium. I started with a couple of fills of 5w30, but have since moved to 10w30. The 10w30 is what it will be if my next UOA looks as good or better than the 5w30.

Good luck. And as was previously mentioned, you need to have more fun!
