1. 2012 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium, 20k miles - I seem to be down 1/3 to 1/4 of a quart after 7500 miles of Royal Purple 5w30 with Royal Purple filter. Is this good? No top ups. I get it changed every 7500 miles as per warranty requirements. I'll do a used oil analysis when I'm at 60k and am legally able to extend my OCI's.
2. Same vehicle, I bought a bunch of Royal Purple but I only have 1 more change of it left. If I switch to something else, such as Pennzoil Platinum, will that cause any issues or consumption issues?
3. 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 2.5L, 168k miles. I've been running synthetic since about 150k miles. The shop said there's no leaks and it looks amazingly dry for that many miles. I seem to top up after 3000 miles or so, then 6000 miles, then I get an oil change at 7500 miles. Oil still looks pretty good. I've been using Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 and Pennzoil Platinum. Will there be an issue if I switch between them (whatever's cheaper)?
4. The dealer gave me a coupon for a synthetic change. The coupon says "Up to 5 quarts of Motorcraft Premium Synthetic blend oil and Motorcraft filter". Is this full synthetic? Is it any good? Should I use the coupon or stick to the brands I've been using. It's $39.95 for that and a tire rotation (and whatever upsell checks of the vehicle they do). I need a tire rotation anyway, so that brings the price for the oil change to ~$30 since where I normally go, it's $10 for a rotation. I've been to this dealer for some things that are the same price as shops (brakes, etc.), so they're not too bad.
5. For either vehicle, what if I take the "whatever's on sale this week" approach to buying synthetics? Will that cause any issues?
