The North Americans are the same with differentials, too. It's a real bother. Of course, some techs will say that it's always a good idea to take the pan or cover off and inspect things and properly clean them out. That may be true, but some are of the mind that they either do something themselves or not at all, and if a couple drain plugs make certain service easier, that's useful.

Yes, plenty of nonsense is sold these days, much of it overpriced. There's a reason I still have my F-150. I can fix it, and there will be parts available for it for a very long time, and cheaply, too.
