I seem to remember older cars having oil pressure guages in them... am I recalling correctly? Did they do away with this because oil pressure problems are so infrequent now?

How hard would it be to install your own? On a Subaru?

My 1995 Firebird has an oil pressure gauge in it, as most high performance cars still do.

I'm moving this to the mechanical section, since it doesn't really belong in the diesel oils section.

GM is one of the few companies to still offer a oil pressure gauge. Ford and Chrysler use "dummy" gauges, they act more like a light, oil pressure or no oil pressure.

Most if not all GM trucks and sports cars use oil guages.

If your car doesn't have an oil pressure gauge, add one then you have the best of both worlds. The gauge to read real time conditions of the engine and a warning light to catch your eye if you are not watching the gauges closely.
