I had my crank sensor replaced on a 1991 olds cutlass last week.They broke it taking it out,so had to drop the oil pan to get to it.Had my car for four day`s!Get it home and it`s leaking oil badly.called them up and they said maybe they can get to it this week.Incompetence!Anyway i will probably take it somewhere else to fix the pan leak.Now my question,what oil pan gasket is best?(Thank`s for readind my rant)

A Felpro brand gasket that is called for would do just fine. A good gasket is only as good as the craftsmanship of the installer! A competent mechanic will install the quality gasket with out fail. Men/Women of skill and professionalism use the best parts available. Finding these people is the rub. They are not always easy to find. But when found, you should send them X-mas cards showing them you care. Because they will care for your car as if it was there own! The shop that I work at gets cards, thank you letters, cake, brownies, etc. all year long. When I am eating these home baked goods it makes me feel like a million bucks. Makes the day that much sweeter. We are out there and we do exist. Keep looking for a good repair shop, it is worth it. Good luck!

That is an awesome idea, smart people on the giving and receiving end.
I will keep it in mind. I have worked in shops over the years in different capacities and can't remember anything that stands out in regards to a customer being thankful for good work done.
I have also had shops do work and can appreciate a job well done.

Did they replace the gasket when they did the job or reuse the old one? More than likely they tore the old gasket, but installed it anyway. Unless you were adamant about reusing the old gasket, I really see no reason why they wouldn't have replaced the gasket.

It took me years to find a mechanic I trust, and little by little I've been giving his shop jobs I'd rather not tackle when my time is limited. I make it a point to ask the owner which tech is working on my vehicle, then tip him. These guys know my fleet now, and go the extra distance for me. Good mechanics are very hard to find, and once found should be treated well IMO.
