Yes, we're trying to avoid the "whatever they use" situation. The marina hosts boats that are brand new...to probably 60+ years old, and I'd bet they have a tank of 5w/10w30 SN oil to service all of them.
Thanks for the comments, I'll relay this to Dad. They used Fram filters for the oil previously, so the move to WIX felt good. It's not much more between the two of them.
Great idea to check on the transmission drive......she's an impressive beast when it settles into gear. I can imagine the trans takes some punishment. We'll check the manual
