oil for overcool Honda?

I have just bought a Honda motorcycle, a 125 watercooled v twin.

This bike IMO is overcooled....ie:mayo visible in oil and breather pipe, even after a 10 mile ride engine is touchable.

Any advice on choice of engine, will plain old GTX 10w40 do.

Manual recommends 10w40 meeting api sg standard?????????

Would expensive synthetic motorcycle be a case of overkill?

Any MC rated conventional oil will probably do. Stick with the recommended viscosity. But have the thermostat checked on the cooling system. Sounds like it is stuck open or if it's a sensor is not working. The "mayo" build up is condensation build up from no ability to allow burn off in a hot engine. Change the oil out of there now.

Thanks for the reply PT.....the stat is ok....changed oil earlier .

Put in 1.5 litres of Castrol gps Semi Synthetic 10w40...took bike for 15 mile ride , when I checked the sight glass there was more freakin mayo in there.

I am thinking of blanking of the radiator ....!

does the engine have a thermostat? heck it out.
if its really running overcooled would you consider placing a bit of cardboard over part of the radiator to help it run warmer.

Sounds like coolant in the oil.
